Crash under Fedora 17

The normal complaint at work (embedded hard-realtime) is that deterministic
behaviour in computers is a lie told to new people. Generally it's trotted
out while swearing furiously at some bit of hardware which refuses to fail
when it should during testing..

I'll post an update tomorrow. Hopefully by then this perverse machine will
decide what it wants to do.
