if you are on ubuntu/debian perhaps this is the same issue, but i
still can't get the executable to use locale from the relative path
(CWD)
e.g.

./subsurface <-bin
./share/locale/ <- locales are here

if i set LANG to something other than en_US (default locale).

ubuntu says:
(process:25654): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
	Using the fallback 'C' locale.

on debian 6.0.4 gtk does not show a message, but the locales still don't work.
