"New" in the "File" menu:

most users will probably search for the "File" -> "New" functionality
since this is very common in software.
currently with "Close" we revert back to the default file and i wonder
if "New" should do exactly the same.

this patch doubles the functionality of "Close" by adding "New",
however this might be redundant and a bit confusing due to the
"default file" implementation.
if "New" should be somehow different to "Close" what are the possible
implications ?
