Yes, the real thing is more complex, but in my experience the event is pretty 
useful. As long as the event is off, you won't increase your deco time (or 
ascent time as suunto calls, which includes travel time between stops etc). As 
long as you stay above the floor the time won't increase, even though slower 
compartments might still be on-gasing. However, if a slower compartment 
becomes the determining factor, then the floor is raised and the event is 
triggered again, and the time is increased unless you move up to the new 
floor.
