Debian package

Hi,

I was wondering if there will be a Debian/Ubuntu .deb package.

There are of course two stages: a) we could create a binary .deb package
to download from the subsurface website b) get listed in the distribution

I don't know about the current status but what I see is re b) there is
subsurface in Debian testing and unstable (wheezy and sid). As you can see

http://packages.debian.org/source/sid/subsurface (there is also a binary
package of course)

But this is only version 1.2 and last October somebody filed a bug report
asking for an update to 2.0 but his never happend. We could still mail
directly to the maintainer Khalid El Fathi <khalid at elfathi.fr> and ask
for an update.

re b) I see there is a packaging/debian subdirectory in the source. The
information there seems to be outdated, in particular
packaging/debian/control and I have no idea how to use this (I cannot find
a corresponding make target). I would be willing to invest some time to
learn this but I have never done this before and I am not sure I can
figure out the dependencies (including version numbers) reliably. I would
very much prefer if somebody with experience in building .deb packages
would do this.

Best
Robert
