So what? If there are changes we can make to the documentation or to the
software itself that make things easier for people like you, that's a
good thing!

Yes, it's an unusual case - but I'd love to find out if there are
specific issues. And I wonder if there are some aspect of this that you
have figured out that we should document.

Reading the docs and commenting on them would be awesome.

The making patches part is really easy - I mentioned it here on the list
a couple of times in the last day or two. Once you are ready ask again
if what was posted here wasn't detailed enough...
