I know that website. If you can make sense of it go ahead and code it! I
think a good starting point is the 55 page FORTRAN program. For
comparison: Our Buehlmann with GF's implementation is 6 pages.
With the time I have invested so far I was not able to really understand
what is going on. And without that I would want to put out anything that
people might actually use in their diving.
And, as I have said earlier on this list, I do not believe that VPM (or
any similar algorithm) assuming it is correctly implemented gives profiles
that differ more from GF calculations than the empirical uncertainty (how
well are the parameters of the model established by
observations/experiments) anyway. Note well that "with this dive I stayed
inside the bounds of that model and did not get bent" is not a sufficent
confirmation of parameters as it does not tell you that you couldn't have
done a shorter deco and did not get bent either. What you really wanted to
do is to find the boundary of the "I do get bent only with acceptably low
probability" regime. And that for all kinds depth/time combinations.
Additional bonus for multilevel and repetitive diving.
