I'm not sure I get you.

We need qmake to get QTBINDIR:

        QTBINDIR = $(shell $(QMAKE) -query QT_INSTALL_BINS)

We could hardcode the path to qmake after we've found qmake, but I don't see 
the benefit.

Officially, no. I can't think of a distribution doing something like that and I 
even think it might break builds.
