People, specially Luisa:
I did a very rougth Usability Study of Subsurface with Ana Luisa ( a
co-worker, that I shameless stole her time to do that, on a rainy night. )
Things that she pointed:
Overall, nothing major. She redesigned the menu and the application
interface. I'll add every information here.
The Menu:
The "File" menu got simplified.
File
- New Log Book
- Open Log Book
- Save
- Save As
- Close
--------
- Export
- Print
- Preferences
- Quit
A new entry called "Log" menu appeared, with the following options,
Log
- Import
-- File
-- From Dive Computer
-- Subsurface Webservice
-- Divelogs.de
- Add Dive
- Plan Dive
a "View" entry is as follows:
View
- All
- Dive List
- Profile
- Info
- Globe
----------------
- Previous DC
- Next DC
- Yearly Statistics
( Previous DC and Next DC should appear only when avaliable. )
"Help"
This is the menu.
Ana luisa also divided the Dive List with tabs, in the following way:
Full List | Manually Added Dives | SEARCH BOX
I liked the idea and proposed a sligtly different approach:
Full List | Manually Added Dives | < Search Terms > 'x' | '+' , and the +
should create a new tab with a dialog to do specific search criteria,
that's closable, whereas the others aren't. She hated the idea.
Dive List Changes:
- Remove the Time Stamp ( year / Month ) of dives that are inside of a
Trip, because it's just dupplicated information.
Dive Information Dialog:
- Remove the 'One Click enable edition' feature and put a button to enable
the Edition for safety and remove visual clutter ( the text-boxes are
clutter, she says, should only be visible when things are really being
edited.
Unfortunately, I tried to take pictures of what she drawned, but it was
terrible, I hope I managed to explain myself in a good way.
and, OF COURSE ( before someone punch me in the eye ) this is not for 4.0,
but for 4.1+ ( together with luisaa's amazing work. )
