I have added text about the importing of dive info from a DC. See the
following link:

My experience with importing data is entirely restricted to importing
data to Ubuntu from Mares equipment, which is seamless. The most
important issue is information from people who have experience of other
OSs (Linux variants, OSX, Win) and other dive computers apart fro Mares.
The section in the manual about this is not long. See the TOC item
3.2.1 "Connecting and importing data from dive computers".
I have taken the liberty of largely using the existing manual with
slight adaptations. In particular, I moved the highly technical issues
of configuration to two appendices. If anyone is prepared to read
through that and tell me whether all the information is still correct
and whether there is important text that needs to be added or omitted,
this will be invaluable. This is one of the key parts of the subsurface
manual. If there is not enough information to help users connect their
DCs, then they will not use the software. So, I take the appendices as
critical and not as an afterthought. Please help me.
There is a lot of duplication between (3.1.1 & 3.2.3), (3.1.2 & 3.2.4)
but their are slight differences that, I think, warrant this
pseudo-duplication.
Any advice, opinions, and information that can help make the manual
being extremely useful for divers who connect their DCs to subsurface
for the first time?
Kind regards,
willemf
