Patch for ticket #204

I applied, tested and pushed the series.

I rephrased a couple of the commit messages - especially the one about
the m/s vs. m/min commit. This needs to become an option so that the
freedivers can get their m/s (or ft/s) - this was briefly discussed on
IRC as well.
