Today you will find more software/devices capable of processing PDF than capable
of processing PostScript.

Theoretically, one can embed PostScript into PDF files, but such PDF files
are compatible with only a minority of systems that can process PDF.

But both PDF and PS are somewhat besides the point of the print layout discussion,
as they are not meant to be edited by laymen to match their layout preferences.

And TeX, alas, will also be considered "editable" by only a small minority of people,
today.
