date and location formats

Hi All,

a couple of questions/suggestions about formatting:

1) Would it be possible to select a date format other than US (either as
a preference, or pick up the user's default)?

2) Are Lat & Long expressed differently around the world? Here in the UK
we always have the N or S indicating Northing or Southing after the
value (same for E or W) e.g. 52° 49.42398'N , 1° 39.58902'E and I'd
always thought that was the same everywhere.
