what I would do it the following: From my patch you already have the data to be plotted. So you just need to implement the actual plotting. For this, I would for example look how the temperature line is implemented, essentially copy that (just connect it to the profile coordinate system, not its own) of course with the correct data source for the model and eventually remove the old horizontal average depth line.

And I would strongly recommend an IDE like Qt Creator as it helps terribly following symbols around different files as compared to editors like vi or emacs.
