To nitpick, I would say the opposite. The pressure is definitely 
continuous (abrupt changes in pressure are physically not possible). 
It's the sampling done by the dive computer that may not be optimal and 
cause those sudden changes. Of course there is not much we can do about 
that, because that's all we get.
