A friend just tried downloading from her Petrel with 4.0.2, and failed.  
I asked her to try 4.0, and it worked.  Since I've experienced the same 
thing myself, I started bisecting to locate the problem.

I realized that the Petrel download is unreliable, regardless of 
version.  Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.  It can work 
several times in a row, and then switch to *not* working several times. 
This makes it fairly difficult to locate the bug.

I haven't been able to make v4.0 fail yet, but at least 4.0.1, a79ddde 
and 4.0.2 fails once in awhile.
