Yes, whitespace looked mostly good.

Well, you appear to have the XML parsing stuff. I simplified that a little
in a follow up patch as you could just use strdup() now that you null
terminate the trimmed strings. I also added a fake test file. Please
expand / improve on that one.

But this is much much better. Pushed.
