A friend of mine and occasional dive buddy was the one who entered this
suggestion. He will be thrilled to hear that someone is working on it!

This looks like an impressive amount of work.
I have to confess that my Java skills are abysmal - so I'll need to ask
you to wait for Aurélien, the maintainer of the companion app to respond
and comment. He is not as constantly present here as some of the other
contributors, so please be patient.
