As the page for GSoC on trac suggests, these answers should be submitted
before applying:

1. When did you first hear about Subsurface?

I first heard about subsurface through a video of Dirk Hohndel at LAC where
he spoke about the transition from GTK to Qt.

2. Do you have any diving experience? (this is not essential, we have devs
that are not divers)

I’ve never dived before.

3. What attracted you to Subsurface?

Besides the video I saw of Dirk at LAC, Linus’ Google+ post, and it being a
Qt program.

4. What other open-source tools do you use?

Git, vim, Linux, SDL2 and sister libraries, PhysicsFS.

5. Describe any participation by you in the Subsurface community (e.g.
created tutorials, submitted bug reports, asked or answered questions on
mailing lists or IRC).

I’ve submitted patches and have asked questions.

6. Describe any contributions you have made to Subsurface development (e.g.
bug fixes, translations, packaging, testing).

Submitted a trivial patch to move some qmake option, changed the CSV manual
dialog menu, spacing, (attempting) to get a patch done for making Marble
optional.

7. In exactly two sentences, why should we pick YOU?

I have experience with multiple C based libraries, and can effectively
apply then once I am familiar with them. I also feel that the proposed
project is well fitted for my experience level (minzip implimentation).

8. What is your name, email address, and irc nickname?

Alberto Corona, albcoron at gmail.com, Brochacho

9. Describe any plans you have for the summer in addition to GSoC (classes,
thesis, job, vacation, etc.).

I have no special plans for the summer this year during the time GSoC takes
place.

10. What programming projects have you completed?

To completion, projects in non-scripting languages, none. The majority of
time programming I do is on a 2D game engine in C++ (
https://github.com/0x1A/motor).

11. What are your favorite programming tools (editor, etc.)?

Vim, git, and a terminal

12. Describe any work on other open-source projects.

Most experience I’ve had with open-source has been through either creating
documentation, adding to/editing Wiki pages or answering questions in
mailing lists (mostly SDL).

13. List other GSoC projects you are applying to.

CERN: Cling bundle for popular platforms, Debian: Debian based on clang.
