What happens without libgit2?

You cannot save into git repositories.
Which is not an “advertised feature” as it so far does not have a useful UI.

I am hoping to find the time to turn git saving into a much more useful
(and advertised feature) for 4.3 - but for 4.2 I think worst case we can
live without it.
