I also looked at this today. After spending some time with Mathematica I came to the conclusion that there is no dimple analytical formula for the ceiling in vpm-b. But I have an idea for a simple iterative solution which will simplify the whole business of the Boyle compensation. 

I might still do this but for the time being this is s pragmatic solution to the problem Gaetan pointed out.
