Hmm. Still don’t know. Looking at https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew/blob/master/Library/Formula/qt5.rb <https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew/blob/master/Library/Formula/qt5.rb>
in line 39 it says

  keg_only "Qt 5 conflicts Qt 4 (which is currently much more widely used).”

Did you somehow force it to link? As I said, I tried it with no success. Maybe I am stupid. By now, I also ran out of pristine Macs to try it again.

I totally agree that your version is simpler and faster (I did use it when it was still qt4). Maybe we could list both in the INSTALL file, yours as default and mine as a workaround?
