So the format of the patch is spot on. The content of the patch, unfortunately, is incorrect :-)

It really is supposed to say “in a sane place” - simply referring to the fact that it makes sense
to have a hierarchy in your home directory for the sources of various projects you might be 
working on

But this looks like you are on the right track figuring out how to contribute.
