that's odd, if i clean everything up the DC type is forgotten.

we don't store anywhere else.

we only use the "roaming" path (e.g. on Windows Vista onwards):
C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Roaming\Subsurface\

and the registry key:
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Subsurface"
