Probono, I tested your Subsurface_4.5.1.236_x86_64_centos_6.7.AppImage on
my real Fedora 23 KDE system.  In very limited testing, it ran fine, and
didn't output anything the the terminal (unless running with -v).

Dirk, your AppImage also runs fine in limited testing on my system, but it
does leave a few terminal messages on startup.

[rick at myapartment Downloads]$ ./Subsurface-4.5.1.242-x86_64.AppImage
libGL error: unable to load driver: i965_dri.so
libGL error: driver pointer missing
libGL error: failed to load driver: i965
libGL error: unable to load driver: swrast_dri.so
libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast
