Useful resources for translations

I repost an old message hoping to help translators regardless of the language


IMHO the main problem wasn't translating a term or a sentence but
trying to be coherent on the whole program with the same translation
and trying to use a widely accepted terminology thus the same
terms/sentences used in other mainstream products getting a
professional all round work.

Hereafter three useful sources for people involved in localization:

Microsoft Language Portal:

The above is simply amazing. You can find all the terminology used by
MS in their product and in every language. Try for yourself.

TAUS Data is a super cloud for the global translation industry,
helping to improve translation quality, automation and fuel business

Last but not the least:

Linguee is a unique translation tool combining an editorial dictionary
and a search engine with which you can search hundreds of millions of
bilingual texts for words and expressions.

Compared to traditional online dictionaries, Linguee contains about
1,000 times more translated texts, which are displayed in full
sentences. Linguee shows translations for expressions such as "strong
evidence", "strong relationship" or "strong opinion", and even for
rare expressions or specific technical terms.
Linguee takes a different approach: You do the translating yourself,
but you can use Linguee to find out how other people have solved
tricky translation problems. As a result, you can single-handedly
produce a much better translation than any other computer program.
