Robert,
Thanks for your thoughtful comments.  Open the example file I attached in
my last mail.  Note the dive characteristics in the notes panel. Then open
the same dive in the planner and compare the dive characteristics.  On my
machine the two sets differ markedly as indicated in the text of my last
email. That was the reason for my mail.
