Honestly, considering that you haven't bothered to merge the
DC_FIELD_STRING code that is almost *required* to make a lot of
interesting data available (for me personally, knowing what the
battery level of the wireless pressure transmitter is is a big deal,
for example), I personally do not think that subsurface should care
about upstream libdivecomputer.

Upstream libdivecomputer simply isn't worth supporting as things are now.
