I know, I wrote the code for the special case about a week ago. Willem had the case where „close enough“ gas wasn’t good enough since he wanted to compare a planned dive with the actual dive with a particular focus on the differences. So merging was not a good. But from what you say merging the gases is no longer done when they are different.
