On the new AppImage I can see all hardware printers (see attached images) but the printing does not produce output. I checked on the Subsurface download site and got AppImage 4.5.1-1600. There it is the same as on 4.6.3 : can only select PDF and cannot see print hardware.

On my Ubuntu, I get the following on the console when trying to print
to a real printer:
QPainter::begin(): Returned false
QPainter::setRenderHint: Painter must be active to set rendering hints
QPainter::setRenderHint: Painter must be active to set rendering hints
QPainter::setRenderHint: Painter must be active to set rendering hints
QPainter::setBrush: Painter not active
QPainter::pen: Painter not active
QPainter::setPen: Painter not active
QPainter::save: Painter not active
QPainter::setClipRect: Painter not active
QPainter::translate: Painter not active
QPainter::translate: Painter not active
QPainter::setClipRect: Painter not active
QPainter::setCompositionMode: Painter not active
QPainter::setCompositionMode: Painter not active
QPainter::setCompositionMode: Painter not active
QPainter::setCompositionMode: Painter not active
QPainter::restore: Unbalanced save/restore
QPainter::end: Painter not active, aborted

I think this was already mentioned before. Anyway, I agree that
printing from Ubuntu appimage is really not an issue as PPA is more
convenient anyway.
