Not sure which "Apple Mail Reader" you are referring to.
Here's Mail.app:</div>
<div><br class="">
</div>
<div><img apple-inline="yes"
id="7EC50A7B-89C2-4D6F-8FA0-ADF763D89EA1"
src="cid:part3.40D99862.A371E2F4@charno.ch" class=""
width="415" height="473"></div>
<div><br class="">
</div>
<div>So this is definitely an issue of your mail reader doing
something wrong.</div>
<div>I've tried this with two Android mail readers, the mail
reader on my iPad and Mail.app on my Mac. In all cases I get
the name of the sender. This must be a specific setting that
you have (likely you opted for "show address before name" or
something like that)</div>
</blockquote>
<p>It's probably a similar problem with the "Show only display
name for people in my address book" setting in thunderbird. <br>
</p>
<p>The From email header contains something like this:<br>
</p>
<p> Dirk Hohndel via subsurface <a
class="moz-txt-link-rfc2396E"
href="mailto:subsurface@subsurface-divelog.org"
moz-do-not-send="true"><subsurface@subsurface-divelog.org></a><br>
</p>
<p>But in the address book I have an entry:</p>
<p> subsurface mailinglist <a class="moz-txt-link-rfc2396E"
href="mailto:subsurface@subsurface-divelog.org"
moz-do-not-send="true"><subsurface@subsurface-divelog.org></a></p>
<p>And now all the email on the mailinglist appear to be from
"subsurface mailinglist":</p>
<img moz-do-not-send="false"
src="cid:part6.32E5CD2C.F9F180C3@charno.ch" alt="" class=""
width="932" height="326">
<p>So this indeed a client side issue. If disabled, it shows "Dirk
Hohndel via subsurface", which is certainly better. But
nevertheless it's annoying, because such a setting is actually
very handy for normal emails (where not everyone fills in the
name).<br>
