I don't know if this is relevant, but still:  My Shearwater Petrel, 
which has a very similar firmware, does not care about timezones at 
all.  I've got no problems with it whatsoever.

But I *did* have problems with an earlier Subsurface version back in May 
[1].  That was solved with an updated version of libdivecomputer.  What 
version do you have, James (run ./subsurface --version)?
