Hi Mario,

Check section 10.2 of the user manual. It contains instructions for 
working with USB ports and for checking the dialout group. The dialout 
group exists by default. You need to join the dialout group and check 
that you have been added. Also try the dmesg instruction to investigate 
the USB port your dive computer is connected to. And I can vouch it 
works on my Ubuntu 12.2. There is just a possibility this may help 
towards solving your problem.
