As a user, I would say that 2 (or possibly 4) would be the most preferable of the options. The software as a whole does what it needs to, and most of it it does better than anything else available.
The mobile app is great for reference, and for quickly recording details while away from a full system, so excluding any breakthrough features, is as much as I need. Yes, there are still some niggles in the UI, but not enough to actually annoy a user IMHO.
I can't say that there is much wrong with the site management that I have seen, but I tend to just log a site name and GPS record.
